And, if money isn't your motivation, what could be more enticing than the ability to design your own dildo from the base up.

There are also plenty of great resources for other online guides, tools and blogs that can help you in your quest to craft the perfect dildo.

Designing Your Own Dildo

The online Dildo Sculptor tool is free to use and offers users multiple ways to tweak the 3D model on-screen.

As well as changing the length, width and overall shape of the design, you can also add:

Waves
Spiral

Shaping and FX

The controls for adjusting the shape of your design are easy to use and you just need to drag the points on screen. Create new points by double clicking or remove existing ones by selecting them and hitting the delete key.

In the FX section, you can add layers and textures to your design that can each be tweaked using the sliders on screen.

Stats

The stats section gives you a useful summary of the key details of your design, including

Width
Height
volume
Approximate cost to 'pour' one model

The only thing that the stats section doesn't include is the cost to create the mold or the price of 3D printing.

The Design

As you make each change, the preview lets you see how this affects your model.

The 'Orbit Dildo' function allows you to rotate the design so you can see from it all angles plus you can use the color change function to see how your dildo would look in different hues.

It's an addictive tool and, in some ways, offers too much choice. We spent ages tweaking a design with some hilarious (and eye-watering) results before we stumbled on the Dick Picks gallery.

Submitted by other users, these dildos have all been designed by other people and can be used as the basis of your custom-built sex toy or just downloaded as they are.

Creating Your Own Dildo

Once you are happy with the way your dildo looks on screen, the next stage is to download the design so you can print it out using a 3D printer.

Before you ask, the answer is NO; you don't use the printed model as a sex toy. It's not safe or hygienic to do so. Instead, you will need to use this printed model to create a mold and from this mold you can cast your own silicone dongs. As many as you like in every shade and color you want.

If you don't have a 3D printer then don't despair. There are services that you can use online that let you submit a .stl file and they will print your product and send it to you. The printing costs vary by service provider but start at around $5. Depending on the size, this could be as much as $20.

The Casting Process

It is recommended that you watch the videos detailed above that can be found in the Dildo University but, in a nutshell, this is how you create your own dildo:

Design your sex toy online using the Dildo Sculptor
Download the .stl file and 3D print at home (or using a service like 3Dhubs). The Sex Toy Collective recommends using ABS plastic as your print material.
Once printed, sand the model down so there are no rough edges and the shape is as smooth as you want it to be.
Create a mold using the model so that you have a 'negative' of your dildo.
Pour silicone into the mold and allow to cure before releasing your new dong to the world.

Curing takes about 4-hours depending on the supplies you are using but once you have popped one out, you can re-use the mold to make as many as you like.

You will need to use body-safe silicone and pigment (for the coloring) and use some easy-release so that your dildo doesn't stick to the mold.

This tool is an absolute godsend for all those people who don't enjoy the shape, size and textures of a traditional sex toy. If you've ever found yourself wishing that your dildo or butt plug could be a little bit wider or bent at a different angle then now you have no excuse.

Okay, so the whole crafting issue isn't everyone's idea of a fun weekend but it really is a lot easier than you might imagine. Some may even get so carried away with the whole idea that they find a new hobby or boutique business.

But before you get carried away, there is a cost to creating each toy and unless you are buying silicone wholesale or have access to your own 3D printer then these custom toys can end up being pricey.

And, even if you really have no desire to make your own sex toy, the tool is actually engaging enough to play with and far more interesting than some adult games we'd care to mention.
