DIY Lego Jewelry : 12 Steps (with Pictures) - leboeuffroir2002
Introduction: DIY Lego set Jewellery
Necklaces, bracelets and earrings made with Legos are beyond leisurely to make and a not bad room to reuse your favorite childhood toy. :D
The last picture shows a huge batch of necklaces I made in one day!
Step 1: What You'll Need...
For the earrings:
- posts + backs (sold in bulge at most craft stores)
- Legos of desired size
- Aleene's Platinum Bond 7800 glue OR E600 glue
Earlier person asks - I recommend these glues because I've victimised them before in other projects (Playstation control button earrings!) and I know that they work amazingly well to adhere metal and plastic. The bond will last for years - I made the controller button earrings over 6 years ago and they're still fine. Advantageous, both glues dry solve. :)
For the necklaces:
- exercise with a 1/16 bit
- leap rings (oversubscribed in bulge at craft stores)
- your choice of necklace chain (sold in bulk at craft stores)
- clasps/closures for chain (also sold in bulk)
- small pick of plyers
The necklaces allow for more customization, as you'll see. :)
Step 2: Aggregation the Earrings.
Intimately any size Lego will puzzle out for earrings - information technology just depends on how crazy you privation to get.
I'll break this down into steps for easy reading:
- stupefy a post, Lego, and your desired glue.
- put option a generous swob of glue onto the station of the earring as shown in photo 2.
- suss out picture 3 for where to range the posts - if you're utilize the post to a single line Lego, it necessarily to go at the rattling top so that it sits happening ternion edges. On duplicate strain Legos, it needs to model on the top forget me drug.
- press firmly into the desired come out and hold for ten seconds roughly, and then don't touch IT any longer. Make sure not to slide it to the side, or push button it around - just push down. Pushing it around will make your layer of glue tacky and thinner, and you won't get a good bond. So rigid it aside and retain keepin' on.
Step 3: Let the Glue Therapeutic!
This is and so very important. If you skip this step, you will not get a lasting adhesion.
After a few hours, thrust connected the posts very lightly with your thumb. If they move at all, your initial attempt at gluing was not successful. So go onward and rip the posts off, clean everything upwards with a bit of alcohol, and try again.
If they pass the first test, rent them sit for leastways 48 and adequate to 72 hours.
Step 4: Wear Them!
No model photos yet. Perhaps on a more attractive twenty-four hour period. ;)
Step 5: Starting the Necklaces - Drilling the Lego!
Step one and the most important step. You need to make ii holes in unrivalled of the long sides of the Lego.
Be careful and steady with the drill - Legos are remarkably soft and you will choke through them real quick, so pay close care. :D
Check the photos for acknowledgment on where to practice. It's non an rigorous skill. Closing to edge, close to the extraneous edges.
Step 6: Cut Chain to Desirable Distance!
You will need two pieces that will like your desired duration. I ingest a very belittled neck, and I equal my necklaces to sit jolly high, so I'm using lengths of chain between 8 and 9 inches.
The best way to measure for this is to loop topology the chain behind your neck, so you give birth one short end and one longer end hanging down your front, and see what length suits you the best by pulling it back and forth, and so hack the longer goal off.
And so you give the axe double the chain and cut it in half.
Step out 7: Attach the Mountain range!
- Attach two jump rings to the Lego
- Attach the irons to those jump rings
- Attach a jump ring to the opposite end of each strand
- Attach your desired closure to those jump rings
- Construct sure all jump rings are securely compressed and that no irons or jump rings volition escape
Stride 8: Wear It!
Add bricks onto your base brick if you like. :D
Step 9: Incentive! Lego Bracelets!
I posted this without thinking about bracelets, and as I sat at my desk this morning, it dawned on Pine Tree State... I DIDN'T Cook ANY BRACELETS!
So here we are. :)
You wish need:
- jump out rings
- enough Legos to fit around your wrist
- a drill with a 1/16 bit
- a gag rule
- miniature pliers
Step 10: Drill Each End of the Legos!
Every bit shown in the photo. :D
Footmark 11: Get in touch the Legos With Jumprings!
As shown in the photos... each Lego set end gets a ring, and those rings are linked unitedly.
At the very ends of the chain, impound jump rings and a brooch, attaching quintuple saltation rings opposite the clasp if you like. :)
Step 12: Wear It!
It's a little tricky to get connected... but hey, it doesn't matter if it's cute, right? :D
Enjoy your Lego jewelry... and keep an eye out for cufflinks - orgasm soon!
